Lo hermoso de Mexico es ver la gente de esta tierra talla belleza en cada objeto, espacio y procesiones haciendo “suyo”. Epoch es un documento visual de el trabajo duro, deseos y tribulaciones. Tengo la suerte de hacer mi camino en estas tierra vía vínculo familiar. Arraigado en la metrópolis que es Ciudad de México tierra de imperios y culturas. En el pasar de muchas lunas mis ojos a visto y mis dedos an capturado con un click el día a día, lo qué pasa y no pasa en Mexico. Epoch enlaza la imágenes con las historias de la gente de cada barrio al frente. Sus historias, su barrios su esfuerzo.

The beauty of Mexico is to witness how the people of this land carve pulchritude in every single object, land, and possession, making it “theirs”. Epoch is a visual document of their hard work, hardships, dreams and tribulations. I’ve had the blessing of making my way to this land, particularly experiencing a “family bond”; now rooted in the big metropolis, land of ancestral cultures and empires. Through the passing of many moons, my eyes have seen and my fingers have captured, with a click, the dialogue of every day life across Mexico. The series Epoch is bringing the stories of the people of each neighbourhood to the forefront. Their stories. Their barrio. Their struggle.

I’m 29.
Where do you work?
At the “Paradise” fruit place.
What do you guys sell?
We have star fruit, emerald plum, cherimoya, watermelon, cucumbers.
What can we found at this market?
It range from the most basic to the most weird and rare.
What would be the weirdest?
Deer meat, crocodile, tiger, wild board, all types of cheese, vegetables of all kinds even the ones you have never seen.
How many years you been working here?
14 years but there’s mother fuckers that been here for 40 years.
Where you live?
I’m from Lztacalco.
What will be the reason for people to come here?
Come visit us, I think this is one of the best market in the country Cómo te llamas?

Tengo 29 años.

En la frutería “El Paraíso”.
Que vendes?
Tenemos carambola, ciruela esmeralda, chirimoya, pepino sandía.
Que podemos encontrar en el mercado?
Pues de lo más común a lo más raro. Carne de venado, cocodrilo, tigre, jabalí, queso de todos tipos y verdura de todo tipo que nunca hemos visto.
Cuantos años tienes aquí?
Yo apenas 14 años pero muchos aquí tiene 40.
Tú dónde vives?
Yo soy de Lztacalco.
Que le dices a las personas que vengan?
Pues que venga a visitarnos, creo que es uno de los mejores mercados de país.

55 years old.
You where born here?
Yes, look my grandparents even spoke nahuatl. My wife speaks it, but it’s different, it changed from region to region. Pronunciation changed quite a lot.
When is the biggest celebration here in Xochimilco, when the whole town goes out and about?
February is when we celebrate “The virgin of Pain”, the whole month. At every house you would get fed and drink (laughs). For example here we are in The Belen neighbourhood and every house is designated for each day of the month.
What are your feelings for Xochimilco?
Is so different to what goes in the city, the climate is very different, when you get deep in the country side and the farmers fed you. Very different.
Any traditional dishes that you can still find here?
Many but the Axolotl no more, my grandparents used to gives us axolotl. First we will be scared but after fried?! So good! (laughs )

Mi esposa habla el nahuatl, pero es distinto no, cambia cambia de región en región. Y se pronuncia con otro tono diferente.
Y cuando es el mero mero día de Xochimilco donde todo el pueblo está de fiesta?
Pues en febrero de la virgen de los dolores, y es todo el mes de febrero y donde vayas te dan de comer y beber (laughs)...por ejemplo aquí el barrio es Belén, toca la fiesta, el otro día toca al otro
Y usted que siente por Xochimilco?
No pos, totalmente diferente a la ciudad, es que entras aquí y todo de diferente, el clima es diferente.
Y vas así cuando te llevan al campo y los campesinos te dan de comer
Y si hay comida traditional?
Si pero ya el ajolote no se come, si antes los abuelos los daban de comer, de pequeño dos daba miedo pero ya frito si está bien rico.
